Gail Helen Morris (nee Winchester), 73, of Albany, passed away on January 27, 2026, after a brief and sudden illness.
Born in Albany, she was the daughter of Earle B. Jr. and Mary (O’Brien) Winchester. Gail graduated from the prior Mercy High School and the prior Albany School of Practical Nursing. Gail later went on to obtain her RN and Associates Degree in Nursing from Maria College. Gail’s focus of nursing was cardiac surgery for her entire 50 plus year career, from the intensive care unit to the floors at Albany Medical Center to the outpatient setting at St. Peter’s Hospital. Gail loved being a nurse and was exceptionally gifted in this role. She retired in 2022 from the Albany Cardiothoracic Surgeons office.
Gail was a homebody, however, with Peter, she enjoyed yearly trips to Old Orchard Beach, ME and Disney World in FL, and numerous day trips. She loved riding horses, riding motorcycles with Peter, gardening and rescuing dogs with GSP Rescue New England. But probably her greatest passion was raising her children and enjoying her 3 grandchildren. Gail could be found at every sports game, recital, and birthday beaming with joy at the sight of her grandchildren.
Gail is survived by her loving husband Peter Morris; children: Dennis X. O’Shaughnessy (Nicole) of Delmar, N.Y. and Kelly M. O’Shaughnessy of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; her grandchildren: Michael, Joseph, and Gracie O’Shaughnessy, step-grandson, Anakin Morris and many nieces, nephews and her extended family. Gail was predeceased by her parents, Earle B. Jr. and Mary Winchester and her brother, Earle B. Winchester, III.
Gail requested to be cremated without a wake or funeral. However, the family is planning a Memorial Mass to be held in her honor at St. Thomas Apostles Church in Delmar, NY 12054 on February 9th, 2026 @ 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to make a donation may do so to German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue New England, P.O. Box 5731, Wakefield, R.I., 02880 and ____________________________________. Rest easy sweet Gail. Enjoy that veal parm in Heaven!
