G. Betty Mort Einstein
Betty passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2015, within just 36 hours of her husband, Paul Einstein, who passed peacefully on April 18th, 2015.
Born in Niagara Falls, New York, on May 29th, 1924, Betty graduated from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. Betty spent the majority of her career as a registered nurse at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital. She later went on to work as an RN for a private practice until her retirement. She volunteered for many years at the Niagara Falls Public Library after her retirement from nursing.
On February 20th, 1948, G. Betty Mort married Paul H. Einstein of Ransomville, NY. They were married for 67 years until Paul's passing on April 18th, 2015. Paul and Betty resided for many years in Niagara Falls, NY, and raised three sons, David, Keith and Christopher.
Betty loved music and was a long-time member of the choir at First Baptist Church. She loved musicals, with the Sound of Music being her all-time favorite. Betty stayed active well into her eighties, swimming 3-times a week at the local YMCA. Her love of swimming influenced one of her sons, and two of his children to become competitive swimmers in high school. Betty's other love was for cats. She always found a stray cat to have as a pet. Those lucky cats became "lottery winners" whose life would forever be pampered.
Betty was an intelligent woman with a wonderful sense of humor. That sense of humor lives on in her three sons and can be seen in the smiles of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Betty is survived by three sons: David (Donna) Einstein of Prescott, AZ, Keith Einstein of Dallas, TX and Christopher (Bonny) Einstein of Cohoes, NY; 9 grandchildren, Noah and Rachel Einstein, Jack, Nathaniel and Joshua Einstein, Tricia DeSantis, Traci Potter, David Meyer and Stacy Hilton; and 5 great grandchildren, Carli Potter, Jake and Jordan Hilton and Melani and Brock Meyer.
Calling hours will be 6 PM to 9 PM, Thursday, April 23rd,, 2015 at Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave, Niagara Falls, NY, 716-283-9660.
