Frederick Richard Roehr, III (Rick/Rickey), 51, of Schenectady, NY, passed away on October 15, 2026, at Ellis Hospital, free of pain and gently at rest, with his family by his side.
Born on April 9, 1975, in Albany, NY, to Frederick Roehr, Jr. and Christina Latino, Rick was a 1993 graduate of Columbia High School. A self-employed entrepreneur in sales and customer service, he lived life on his own terms. Fueled by a passion for music, he ran sound for his father’s band as his dad’s biggest fan. Rick’s magnetic spirit, unwavering strength, and boundless heart left an enduring imprint on everyone he met, and his charisma and comedic relief had a way of turning any gathering into a party.
Rick found his greatest joys in camping with his beloved Sam, sports, and racing anything on wheels — channeling the fearless, adventurous spirit he inherited from his mother. Whether petting his four-legged friends, relaxing around the firepit, or wearing shorts in the snow, he lived life to the fullest.
He is survived by his devoted fiancée and love of his life, Samantha Woodward; his unconditionally loving parents, Frederick, Jr. and Christina; his little “sis,” Shayla Grey; his brother-in-law, Timothy Grey; his adored nieces, Kaylee, Claira, and Addilyn; many dear cousins from Illinois and Florida; and countless friends who became family.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held on November 1st from 12–2 p.m. at The Arsenal Reserve, 795 3rd Avenue, Watervliet, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands, NY.
