Frances A. Valcik Age 90, daughter of the late John J. Valcik and Mary Zvoncak Valik, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center in Troy, NY.
Born in 1935 in Albany, NY. Lived in Albany, Cohoes, Waterford, New York. Frances graduated from St. Joseph's School in Albany. Received her Bachelor of Science and Master's Degree in Education (College of Rose)
Fran was a Sister of Mercy (Sister Mary Jonathan) and taught at several parochial schools, Blessed Sacrament, Vincentian, St. Agnes (Cohoes), St. Joseph's (Scotia). After leaving the order, Fran taught at School 2 in Troy, NY until her retirement.
Fran took several Crystal Line Cruises to places like London, Sweden, Norway, St. Petersburg. She took a cruise on the QE 2, and several trips to Cape Cod, with her friend Kathleen. Loved family vacations to Seaside Heights in New Jersey, and a little side trip to Atlantic City. Foxwoods and Saratoga Casino several of other favorite places. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas with her brother John and sister-in-law Reggie. She loved to partake in the family Saturday morning ritual having coffee, rolls, donuts and other goodies always filled with laughter. She loved to walk and worn out many pairs of sneakers.
She was a fan of the New York Yankees. Her beautiful spirit and gentle heart and selfless love will remain with us forever.
Fran was predeceased by her siblings, John Valik (Reggie), Mary Krutka (Andrew), Mildred Salvinski (John), and Joseph Valcik (Jane).
Fran is survived by her brother Frank (Doreen) of Latham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center for the excellent professional care given to Fran during her stay and the Community Hospice for support during the last week.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 21 from 4 to 7pm at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 10:30am at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. Burial will immediately follow at St. Michael's Cemetery in Waterford.
