SCHENECTADY – Florence W. Goncerz, 99, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
She was born in Amsterdam, NY on June 1, 1927.
At the age of 7 her family emigrated to Poland. Many years later, after meeting the love of her life, Bruno, they married and returned to the United States in 1962 and settled in Schenectady.
She was a longtime and dedicated employee in the Dietary Dept. at Ellis Hospital until her retirement.
Bruno passed away in 1980 and her son, Richard passed away in 2026.
She is survived by her daughter Diane (Francis) Drezek, her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm immediately followed a 1:00 pm funeral service on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Schenectady.
