October 20, 1919 — January 27, 2018

Fayette Walter Wing, Jr., 98, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Albany County Nursing Home.

Fayette was born in Oneonta, New York and was the son of the late Fayette Wing, Sr. and Olga (Johnson) Wing.

He attended Cornell University and then graduated from Wheaton College (Illinois), and Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Chicago.

He and his wife, Ila Florence (Millar) Wing lived in South Haven, Michigan where he was an American Baptist Minister. They later moved to Chicago where Fayette held managerial positions at Dun and Bradstreet and Hertz Corporation and had their only child, Kathy.

They moved to Indianapolis where Fayette was employed by Encyclopedia Britannica Educational Corporation and then in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1984, he would retire while living in the Orlando area with Ila. Following the death of Ila in 1991, he was active in Florida AARP and became an avid genealogist of Wing Family History.

In 2001, he moved to the Albany area to be near his daughter and her family.

Fayette is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (John) Prokorym. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jason (Alexandria) Prokorym and Megan (Michael Hotter) Prokorym and his great granddaughters; Emily Wing Hotter and Hannah Aden Hotter.

His gentle kindness is his lasting legacy and an inspiration for his family and all who knew him.
