Green Island - Everette A. Morgan, 79, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Laurel Hill, NC, and moved to South Troy in 1966, where he raised his family for 45 years before retiring to Green Island.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Gayle; his son, Jeffrey (Kasey); grandsons, Scott (Christina) and Jeffrey; daughter-in-law, Cricket Parnell, sisters, Frances Wickham of Troy, Gloria McDonaldson of Virginia, Linda Mull (Jerry) of Rensselaer; brothers, John Jr. (Cheryl) of Green Island and David (Janet) of North Carolina; along with several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He also leaves behind his precious poodle, Bella.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Tammy, son Scott, his parents; John Sr. and Edith, sisters; Jeanette Vingard, Reba Scott, Virginia Corder, and Wanda Martin.
In the early 1980s he and his brother Johnny founded Oakwood Builders, where he worked alongside family and passed his knowledge down to his sons and many others for decades.
Until his passing, he remained the go-to-guy for guidance and insight on anything carpentry-related. Even if you knew the answer, you wanted to hear it from him. He was a Master Carpenter and the Greatest of All Time; his talent and skill will never be matched.
He was also a phenomenal cook and thoroughly enjoyed being told so, disagreeing was not an option.
He was proud to have served in the Vietnam War, but his greatest pride was his children and grandsons. He was so proud of them and their accomplishments, bragging to anyone who would listen. He will be forever loved and missed.
