Esther Murillo-Miklic, 80, of Albany, NY, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2026 at St. Peter’s Hospital.

Esther was born on February 27, 1946 in Mexico City to the late José Murillo and Ana Maria Caballero. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Southern Illinois University, and two master’s degrees, as well as her PhD from the State University of New York at Albany. She enjoyed a long career as a Professor of Spanish and French at the College of Saint Rose.

Esther had two children, who she loved deeply, and devoted her life to: Alejandro and Carolina. She married her husband, Floyd Miklic, in August 2007, and her family expanded to include four step-children, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Malanda, and Michael. Floyd was the love of her life. Together, they built a life filled with travel, service to the community, and educational pursuits. They were longtime, active members of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, and were known for their dedication to Singles Outreach Services, along with their involvement in other social organizations and charities.

Esther was known for her sweetness. She had a kind, gentle nature that touched everyone she knew. She always made time for people, and made them feel important, seen, and cared for. Esther was a strong woman with the purest of heart, who was able to face adversity with grace, faith, and immeasurable courage.

Of all of her degrees and titles, she was most proud of the title “Grandma”.
