Eric Glen Hausamann, 63, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully after a heroic battle with cancer on August 31, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Eric held degrees in engineering from SUNY Buffalo and the Environmental Science and Forestry school at Syracuse University. Post-graduation, he earned his Professional Engineering accreditation and license. His lifelong love and deep respect for the environment provided the foundation for his 26 year career with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Eric was grateful for the close friends he made along the way.
Eric’s love for music was contagious. He played guitar, drums, and a bit of everything else. He even dabbled in song writing. A proud claim to fame was playing in a local “dad band,” as well as the work staff Christmas group. He was the unsuspecting party starter, slowly gathering family and friends into a room to sing, jam, and share the love. Or, the quiet jokester who felt like your friend in the corner of the party, reminding you that almost everything is worth a laugh. Aside from his participation in numerous sports, Eric was an avid spectator, often missing other commitments to watch the end of a game. Above all, his love for his family was larger than life.
He loved people deeply and people loved him. He took time getting to know people, especially his caregivers, at the hospital and at home. Our family is infinitely grateful for their commitment and personalized care. For Eric, Nat King Cole may have summed it up best: ‘And while we spoke of many things. Fools and kings, this he said to me: “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn, Is just to love and be loved in return.”’ Eric will be dearly missed.
Eric is predeceased by his father, Erwin Hausamann, Jr, and his nephew, Maxwell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie Amigo; his children, Ethan, Daniel, and Kara Hausamann, and their mother, Carol Hausamann; stepchildren, Ian and Emily Gulbrandsen; and his beloved grandson, Parker. He is also survived by his mother, LaVon Hausamann; sisters Deborah Buglione (Michael) and Jennifer Small (Glenn); his nieces Andrea, Stephanie, and Maggie, and his nephew Matthew.
