Born on October 11,1942 in Auburn Alabama, to Mary Louise Scott-Williams and Robert Reese. Ms. Carter was a sweet Christian woman who loved the Lord and faithfully attended church every Sunday. She spent many years with her beloved partner, Ben Tolbert, in Knoxville, Tennessee, before returning to Schenectady to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter, who remained the joy of her life.

She will be remembered for her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

A talented seamstress, she sewed many of her own clothes and found joy in making handmade blankets, which she often gifted to family and dear friends. She was also a gifted writer who enjoyed poetry. Throughout her life, she found peace and purpose in gardening and was deeply involved in her community garden. She carried a fondness for elephants, often reflecting on their remarkable memory as a symbol of her own deep love and lasting devotion.
