Elsie M. Collier

Elsie Marie Collier, 94, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, in Albany, NY. Elsie was born August 21, 1931, in Lake Charles, LA to the late Lillian and Alvridge Golden Sr. She was the eldest of seven children, preceded in death by her brothers Alvridge Jr, Michael, Jerry Wayne and her sister, Billie Frazier.

She graduated from Xavier University School of Pharmacy, New Orleans, where she met IC (Ignatius) Collier, Jr., her beloved husband of 72 years and a fellow pharmacist. She was the devoted mother of Colleen Newton (Eric) and Cynthia Scott (Harold Jr).

Elsie is survived by her two sisters, Barbara Walker of CA and Loretta Wilkins of LA. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren: Harold “Scotty” Scott (Mikyla), Collier Scott (Briana), Nia Newton, Nissa Atanda (Tobi), Nazaree Newton (Erinn) and great-granddaughter Aria Atanda. Elsie is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends.

A long-time member of Christ the King Church, Guilderland and a devotee of the Blessed Mother, Elsie faithfully prayed the Rosary. She was a charter member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Albany Chapter. She was a loving, caring person, always thinking of others. She will be sorely missed.

As per Elsie's wishes, services were held privately at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
