Colonie

Colonie – Marilyn E. Husselbeck, passed away peacefully December 7, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Albany, she was the daughter of the late Edward T. Byer and Rosanna (Maguire) Byer. Marilyn’s 92 years of life were lived with the joy of laughter and spending her time with family & friends. Her love of travel, art, and games was infectious to everyone she touched throughout her amazing life.


Marilyn was a graduate of Cathedral Academy and retired from NYS Dept. of Tax & Finance where she made a number of good friendships. Marilyn enjoyed living in the village of Colonie for the past 61 years, raising her four children there. She has been a loving and active member of The Church of St. Clare's since 1965, where the family celebrated many family milestones. Marilyn always enjoyed being an active member of her community and she volunteered for a number of organizations, including over 20 years at Proctor’s Theater and the Albany International Airport. She was very active in Colonie’s many senior clubs, and it was through these clubs that Marilyn met her dear friend Julia and many others - she enjoyed a great number of trips as well as playing Rummikub and cards with her beloved friends. Marilyn always enjoyed hosting big family meals and was known for her wonderful laugh and heart-warming sense of humor.


Marilyn is predeceased by 5 sisters and one brother; Charlotte (Ed) Alston, Margie (Herb) Wickham, Helen (Jack) Alston, Rosemary (Jess) Sweetser, Edward Byer Jr., and Harriet Byer.


Marilyn is the loving mother of Eric, Judy (Mike Savoca), Kurt (Andrea), and Kevin (Shannon); grandchildren, Kesandra, Ryan, Owen, Kieran, Ian, and Jamyn; and many grand dogs as well.She is survived by her dear brother's wife, Ann Byer. Marilyn (aka Aunt Mernie) also has many loving nieces and nephews and she always loved spending time with all of her extended family.


Relatives and friends are invited to call 4-7pm, Tuesday December 17, 2024 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Road Colonie, NY 12205. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Wednesday December 18, 2024 at 10:30am held at St. Clare's Church 1947 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205. Interment to follow at Our Lady Help of Christian Cemetery 41 Jolley Rd, Glenmont, NY 12077.
