Formerly of Clifton Park – Betty passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 9, 2026 at 93 years old. Born in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of Lewis Hoke and Inez (Cushing) Hoke. She worked for the State of New York, Department of Tax and Finance as a Key Punch Operator. She was also a Bus Supervisor/Interpreter on weekly bus trips to the Rome School for the Deaf. She Volunteered/Interpreted at the Capital District Deaf Center (CDDC). Betty also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. Betty was an active member of the Clifton Park Senior Center where she enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting and spending time with friends.
Betty was the devoted wife of the late Raymond “Ray” DeRusso for 51 years. They had four cherished children; Diane (Matthew) Baird of Waterford, Dawn (Ira) Schlenker of Colonie); David (Sharon) DeRusso of Delanson, and Dean DeRusso of Rochester. She is survived by 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law Catherine “Kay” Olsiewski; and Cousin Joan (Bernard) Marcus.
Betty and Ray enjoyed their life together. They enjoyed bowling, square-dancing, cards and traveling. In retirement they traveled all over the U.S. in their motor home. Later, they spent the winter in Clearwater, Florida.
