Elise M. Gabriel

Elise M. Gabriel, 57, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, at Ellis Hospital. A devoted daughter, partner, teacher, and friend, Elise's life was marked by a profound kindness, intelligence, and an unwavering work ethic that touched the lives of many who were fortunate enough to know her.

Growing up, Elise nurtured a strong desire for knowledge, leading her to graduate from Shenendehowa High School, followed by earning a degree at Hudson Valley Community College and ultimately from Saint Rose University. She dedicated herself to education, not only as a bank teller at KeyBank but, more importantly, as an ELA teacher with Albany Leadership. Teaching was not just a job for Elise; it was a calling, a way to inspire and uplift those around her, especially her beloved daughter, Grace.

Elise took great pride in her accomplishments, most notably in her role as a mother. She found joy in the simple moments, whether it was enjoying seeing and listening to concerts/live music, camping under the stars, hiking scenic trails, fishing by the rivers, tending to her garden, or simply enjoying the company of her friends and her animals. More recently, she embraced painting to enhance her vibrant creativity and passion for life.

She was predeceased by her adopted mother, Lois M. Smith, and her adopted father, Lionel C. Archambault.

Elise is survived by her daughter, Grace Atkins, partner Chris Avery, her adopted brother, Neil Archambault; her biological mother, Nancy A. Simon, and biological father, Robert Francis and wife Elaine Sedani, and brother Robert Sedani.

A visitation will be held on February 28, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at New Comer Cremations & Funerals in Colonie, NY. This will be followed by a memorial service that begins at 7:00 PM at the same location, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the beautiful life of Elise M. Gabriel.
