WATERFORD - Edward Joseph Weaver, 67, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. He was born in Panama City, FL on July 5, 1949 and was the son of Edward Joseph and Gracia (Bentley) Weaver.

Ed was a sports writer and journalist for the Troy Record for over 15 years. Prior to that he wrote for the Corning Leader and the Elmira Star Gazette. He had a passion for politics and debating those views that were most important to him. He enjoyed traveling to the Daytona Beach area visiting his family and swimming in the ocean. He also enjoyed traveling to his favorite city, Boston to visit his youngest daughter where they enjoyed the Red Sox scene.

Ed is survived by his daughters, Christine Fuller, Michelle Terwilliger and Ashley Weaver; his grandchildren, Shanice, Mason and Orion; great grandson, Avery; his sister, Joanne Weaver; his brother, Timothy Weaver; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations - Latham Chapel, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189 on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church, 224 Franklin St., Elmira, NY 14904 on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
