Edward F. Lysiak

April 10, 1933 — February 10, 2026

Listen to Obituary

Edward F. Lysiak passed away on February 10th, 2026 at the age of 92. He was born on April 10th, 1933 to the late Leon and Sophie Lysiak.

Edward's wife Jean was the love of his life, who he cherished every moment of every day they had together and still not a day gone by since her passing in 2009 had he felt any different.

Edward was predeceased by his siblings Irene Bonacker, Emily Lynch, Leon (Leo) Lysiak and John (Bud) Lysiak. He is survived by his granddaughter, Tippy Lysiak, and three great-grandchildren; his niece and caretaker at the end of his life Tricia Bonacker (Charles Walker), and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by his adopted family, Dave and Cindy Adams, along with our children and Ed's dearest friends Larry Adams Jr. and Louie Cappuccitti.

Ed was born and raised in Schenectady. Edward served four years in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on March 31st, 1961.

Edward and his wife Jean raised their son Thomas Lysiak and Edward began his career at Greulich's Market where he worked as a butcher for almost 60 years.

To have known Ed, was to love him. Ed was one of the kindest, most caring, and loving man in our lives. Ed had many names; a few were Big Ed, Eddie, Friend, Mr. Ed, but to me he was Pa. To our family he was family. We were blessed to have him in our lives for nearly 39 years. Sometimes not related can be just as strong and meaningful as to be related. We did everything together as a family does, both Ed and Jeannie, and Ed after Jeannie's passing, became a daily part of our lives. There are no words to express how much Ed will be missed by our family and in our home.

We would like to express a special thank you to the VA home care team and Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation.

A celebration of Ed's life will be held on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 at New Comer Funeral Home at 343 New Karner Road in Colonie, NY. Calling hours will be from 10am till 12 noon. Prayers will complete the service at the funeral home where all are invited to join is at Memory Gardens Cemetery for his military burial and final prayer. Finally, please join us at the Guilderland Elks Club on Carman Road, Guilderland where memories can be shared and a lunch will be served.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Edward F. Lysiak's name to St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, New York, 12303.

My final note, if ever there was a reunion of love, I know when Ed went home to the Lord, Jeannie was also there waiting for him which was the happiest moment for both of them in many years.
