Edward James "Bud" Christie Sr. passed away on Friday, October 2, 2026, at Albany Medical Center. He leaves behind Diane Cardone, his loving wife and partner of 27 years, along with a family who will deeply miss him.
Born on June 7, 1947, in Albany, New York, Bud was the son of the late John and Francelia Christie.
Bud was a proud veteran who served his country as a reservist in the United States Marine Corps, Navy, and Army. He was equally proud of a hard day's work. For more than 30 years, he worked at the University at Albany, where he put his considerable skill to use fabricating ductwork. Bud was, simply put, an amazing tin knocker.
He was predeceased by his siblings, John "Jack" Christie Jr., George Christie, Mary Cullum, Paul Christie, and Joan Salerno; his son, Edward "Buddy" Christie Jr.; and his grandson, James Christie.
Bud is survived by his wife, Diane; his brother, Mike Christie of Arizona; his daughters, Robin (John) Dolen and Francelia Smith; and his grandchildren, Zachary Christie and Madyson Christie.
Calling hours will be held to celebrate Bud's life on Saturday, October 17, 2026 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Bud's memory may make a donation in his name to the American Cancer Society.
Bud worked hard, served his country proudly, loved his family, and leaves behind a lifetime of memories with those who knew and loved him.
