LOUDONVILLE- Ramon A. Madrigal,Jr., M.D. passed away April 25, 2026, at age 96. A longtime resident of the Capital District, Dr. Madrigal practiced as an anesthesiologist with, and as a partner in, Albany Memorial Hospital Anesthesia Group for 28 years, between 1966 and 1994.

He was born in 1929 in Manila, Philippines to the late Ramon M. Madrigal and Vita Centenera Madrigal. Dr. Madrigal obtained an undergraduate degree in pre-med from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila in 1950. He was awarded his Medical Degree from Santo Tomas College of Medicine & Surgery in 1955 and began his medical residency that year as a resident in surgery at Manila’s Public Hospital.

Dr. Madrigal came to the United States in 1958 and served as a resident in surgery at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany from 1958 to 1961. He then practiced in New York City for five years before returning to Albany and beginning his long tenure in association with Memorial Hospital in Albany. Dr. Madrigal was a member of several medical organizations including the American and New York Societies of Anesthesiologists, the State of New York and Albany County Medical Societies, and the American Medical Association. He became a U.S. citizen in 1971.

Dr. Madrigal was married for 65 years to Maryvesta (nee Hurley) Madrigal, who survives him. They are parents of six children: Meg Madrigal Wilson (James); Diane Madrigal; Ramon M. Madrigal (Lori); T. Cregg Madrigal (Patty); Rita Madrigal (Joe Lambert); and Jennifer Madrigal McCourt (Brian). They are grandparents to Andrew, Christopher, Maria, and Julian Wilson; Nora and Alexander Madrigal; and Matthew, Liam and Kate McCourt; and step-grandparents to Brie Wertzbaugher. Dr. and Mrs. Madrigal became great grandparents in April 2026 to Finley James Wilson.

Dr. Madrigal was predeceased by his brother Jaime Madrigal and sister Vida M. Madrigal.

For many years, particularly in retirement, Dr. and Mrs. Madrigal enjoyed ballroom dancing and were awarded ribbons in multiple competitions. He also enjoyed travel with his wife and often his children and grandchildren, including memorable tours of Ireland and the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, Russia, Alaska, Hawaii, as well as many return trips to the Philippines.

The family will greet guests at the church 10:30-11:00am prior to Mass. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at St. Pius X Church 23 Crumitie Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
