Douglas R. Oliver

COLONIE-Douglas R. Oliver 62, passed away peacefully at his home in Tampa FL on November 18th 2016 after a brief illness. He was the only son of Howard and Marion Oliver. Doug was born and raised in Albany NY and followed his love of NASCAR to Daytona Beach FL where he lived for nearly 40 years and worked as a mechanic for Firestone until his retirement in 2015. He was a passionate football and racing fan who enjoyed live music, and spending time with his friends and family. He will be remembered for his quick wit, enduring friendships and love of his family.


Doug is survived by 2 daughter; Tina (Dave) Alteri and Neely Oliver, 3 grandchildren; Joseph R Alteri, Nina C Alteri and Addison Williams; his mother Marion V Oliver (Winnie) and his 4 sisters Mary Ellen Koonz, Joan (Paul) Wegman, Maria (Ken) Frodyma, and Marilyn Oliver as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind many lifelong friends in both Albany and the Daytona Beach area. He is predeceased by his father Howard D Oliver.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 4:00pm-7:00pm. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
