LATHAM_Douglas A. Fuess, 80, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his family.
Doug was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked for 29 years as the Executive Director of Empire State Concrete and Aggregate Producers Association. Doug was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a die hard Yankee's fan, an avid outdoorsman and a Jack of All Trades. Doug had a passion for cars, so much so, that after retirement he went on to work an additional 15 years in the automotive industry. Those who knew Doug will remember him as a kind and generous man, he could always be counted on to lend a hand if you were in need.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Althea, his children, Rebecca McGuire, Cynthia O'Rourke (John), Doug Fuess, Jr. (Lynda), a sister, Sally Knapp (Ken), grandchildren, Alexandra McGuire, Jeremy McGuire, Jay O'Rourke, Amy O'Rourke, Ben Fuess, Abby Fuess, Kate Fuess and his grandpuppies, Chester and Otto.
A memorial service will be scheduled with information to be published at a later time.
Memorial Contribution may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
