Doris I. Unger

KINDERHOOK-Doris I. Unger, 83, passed away on March 16, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family.

Doris was born on December 26, 1934, daughter of the late John and Florence Masch in Queens, NY.

Doris grew up living in Long Island, NY. She later relocated to Schoharie County.

Doris was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy was caring for her family and home. She was an ardent animal lover her entire life, rescuing and caring for countless animals. Doris was kind hearted and demonstrated endless compassion throughout her life.

She was a member of the Elks Club in Kinderhook. She also enjoyed traveling with her companion Norman and cherished the company of her many friends. She will be dearly missed.

Doris was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years Michael B. Unger, her son, Michael Unger, Jr. and her beloved companion, Norman Nilsen.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Alison Unger Clifford (Paul), Marc A. Unger (Kimberly), and Adam B. Unger (Jennifer McNamara); her grandchildren, Bryan A. Clifford, Leah Clifford, Erik Clifford, Alexander Unger, Morgan Unger, Charles Unger, Ryan Unger, Lauren Unger, Eric Unger; her brother, Wesley Masch (Claire) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 from 1-3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A memorial service will begin at 3pm on Wednesday.
