Donna (DiPierro) Sellie, 70, of Albany, NY, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2026, surrounded by her family, at Saint Peter’s Hospital.
Donna was born on May 25, 1956, in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late Gerald Peart Sr. and Helen Markoski.
She attended Albany High School (Class of ‘74) and went on to build a long and dedicated career at the University at Albany (SUNY Albany), where she worked for over 32 years as a supervisor. Donna was known for her strong work ethic, leadership, and the lasting relationships she built with her colleagues over the years.
Donna found her greatest joy in spending time with her family. She especially cherished being with her grandchildren, always showing up for their games, recitals, and special moments. She also enjoyed trips to Turning Stone Casino, where she loved playing bingo and slot machines with her sister, Sheila. At home, she found comfort and companionship with her beloved dog, Sasha.
Donna is survived by her loving husband, James Sellie Sr.; her daughter, Nicole Lasek (Edmund) of Latham; and her son, Kyle DiPierro (Jillian) of Delmar. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ethan, Alexis, Nora, Hannah, Leo, and Luka. She is also survived by her stepchildren, David Sellie (LaTanya), Jason Sellie, Angel Sellie, Maureen Case (David), and James Sellie Jr., all of Schenectady; her brother, Gerald “Jake” Peart Jr. (Maria) of Mechanicville; her sister, Sheila Zurek (William “Bugzy”) of East Greenbush; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and additional grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her former husband, Glenn DiPierro of Ravena.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on July 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at NewComer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Donna’s honor to the American Lung Association of New York.
Donna will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, and the joy she brought to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed.
