Listen to Obituary

Donald Harold Treble, Ph.D., was born on April 14, 1934, in Liverpool, England. He passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Heather Rose Treble, of the Beltrone Living Center in Colonie, New York.

Donald earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Liverpool. Shortly thereafter, he immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, where he taught at Harvard Medical School for two years. He later moved to Albany, New York, to join the faculty of Albany Medical College as a professor of Biochemistry. During his distinguished academic career, he also taught at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies.

Following a fulfilling career in education and research, Donald returned to Albany to spend more time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed a wide range of activities, including skiing, camping, cycling, art, international travel, and, most especially, international folk dancing. Through these pursuits, Donald and Heather formed many cherished friendships that spanned the globe, including their dear local friend Sonia Long.

At the age of 72, Donald and Heather moved to the Beltrone Living Center in Colonie, New York. There, Donald continued to share his passion for folk dancing by teaching classes and serving as president of the Residents Association.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Heather; his children, Lindsey (Frank) Loudis and Geoffrey Treble; his grandchildren, Frankie Loudis, Joelle Loudis, and Laura (Joseph) Milkiewicz; and his great-grandchildren, Adalynn and Penelope.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Heritage House for the compassionate care they provided during Donald’s final days. They would also like to thank his primary care physician, Dr. Ronald Hoenzsch, a former student of Donald’s at Albany Medical College, whom Donald held in the highest regard.

There will be no public funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
