Donald P. Rainis

Colonie- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Donald P. Rainis on August 13, 2026. Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He was born July 22, 1933, to the late Paul and Mary Rainis in Albany NY.

Don will be missed by his children: Lorna Milburn (Chuck), Paul Rainis (Denise), Clara Rainis (Larry), Amy Wilson (Mike), Kari Battuello (Todd) and Colleen Masa (Scott).

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 43 years Patricia Rainis, Nancy Fiset (Sister), Scott Rainis (Son), Susan Wickham (Daughter) and Stephen Wickham (Grandson).

Don graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1951. Soon after he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. Don worked for the A&P, in addition to all his side jobs and retired from Owen’s Corning in Delmar. He was a past Commander and long-time member of the North Albany American Legion Post 1610. He enjoyed playing football and softball growing up. His other passions were golfing, square dancing and watching his favorite teams. Go Giants, Mets and NY Yankees! Don also enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii and spending winters in Myrtle Beach with his wife.

Thank you to all the Doctors and staff at the Albany VA and Shaker Place for their amazing care during his last moments spent with his family and friends.

Calling hours 10:00am-12:00pm will be held Saturday August 22, 2026, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Road, Colonie NY 12205. Interment to follow Memory Gardens Cemetery & Memorial Park. Please toast Don with a glass of your favorite Chardonnay!
