Donald R. Stewart

Albany, NY – Donald R. Stewart, Jr., 65, passed away on January 26, 2026. He was born in Albany, New York, the son of the late Donald R. Stewart, Sr. and Marjorie A. Vaccariello.

Known to most as Donny or Stew, he shared his father’s lifelong passion for antiquing and also enjoyed painting. Donny was exceptionally handy and could fix nearly anything. He had a special talent for all things automotive and was something of a bodywork expert, but his skills extended far beyond cars — from household repairs to projects others wouldn’t even attempt, Donny always found a way to make things work.Always up for a celebration, Donny was a child at heart with a big teddy-bear personality. He was deeply loyal to those he loved and was loved just as fiercely in return. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be remembered by all who knew him.

Donny was predeceased by his parents; his stepfather, Patrick Vaccariello; and his beloved brother, Keith C. Stewart “Doc”.

He is survived by his sister, Karen M. Stewart; his children, Andrew Chevalier, Samantha Stewart and Courtney (Bob) Stewart-Steciuk; his grandchildren, Kadeis Chevalier, Trey Lossi, Olivia, Robbie, Jackson, and Layla Steciuk and his beloved Beverly. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Jordan Dingman and Katherine Crowley, as well as many extended family members and friends.

Donny’s family will forever remember his desire to fix the unfixable, his love of gathering and celebration, and the big heart he shared so freely.
