Donald R. Beach

Donald R. Beach, age 83, of Guilderland N.Y., passed away on September 11, 2023. Following his wife's passing in 2020, Donald fought through his own medical hurdles.

He was born on November 8, 1939 to Richard and Leta Beach where they resided in Albany, N.Y.

Don attended Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, N.Y. and graduated with an Associates Degree. He enjoyed playing sports and being in a fraternity. After graduating, he had several different jobs and later married Ellen T. Gallub in 1961. He then worked for Niagara Mohawk for over 30 years, mainly in the gas department. He retired from Niagara Mohawk in 1999 and enjoyed many years of bowling with his co-workers and friends at the Sunset Bowling Lanes.

Aside from being an avid bowler, he also enjoyed being on a golf league at the Western Turnpike Golf Course. Don enjoyed doing yard work, and had, in his mind, the best yard in the neighborhood. He liked spending time with his
grandchildren, telling stories and jokes, and always referred to himself as the Legend! He also enjoyed going out to dinner with his children.

Don is survived by his sister, Janet; three children, Jim Beach, Donna (David) Wissenbach, and Lynn (Steve) Ellis; eight grandchildren, Gregory, Monica, Brandon, Zachary, Chelsey, Ryan, Mason and Owen.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, from 10:00 am -12:00 pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie NY 12205. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm. Graveside service will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
