SLINGERLANDS- It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Domenica Patricia Blair, who peacefully passed away on July 31, 2026.
“Pat” was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a warm heart, a beautiful smile, and a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with those she loved.
She shared a beautiful and enduring love with her beloved husband, James Blair Sr. who predeceased her. Together they built a life centered on family. As a mother, she offered unconditional love, guidance, and endless support. As a grandmother, she delighted in every moment spent with her grandchildren, creating treasured memories they will carry with them always.
Pat was a longtime employee of the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance until her retirement. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Whether spending time camping, traveling, watching the NY Yankees, or taking a trip to the casino with family and friends, she embraced every opportunity to make memories with those she loved.
Her home was the heart of many traditions. Every Thanksgiving she prepared a feast that everyone looked forward to. Her turkey and stuffing were second to none, and no family gathering felt complete without her famous ambrosia salad—a dish that was always requested and always made with love. Those meals brought everyone together and created memories that will be cherished for generations.
She leaves behind her son James Blair Jr. (Michele), daughter Kristina Carras (Patrick) her cherished grandchildren, Andrew, Lindsay, Cyrus, Kasidy, and Natalee, great grandchildren Beckham, Cameron, Kyleigh, her adored furry companion Abby, and her brother Anthony Rao; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers, nurses, aides, and healthcare professionals who cared for Pat throughout the past couple of years. Your compassion, patience, and kindness brought comfort not only to her but to our entire family.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that the love she shared will continue to live on through the legacy she leaves behind.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY on Thursday August 6, 2026 from 3pm to 6pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Guilderhaven Inc. in memory of Domenica Patricia Blair.
