Dolores Fischer, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.
She was born in Tell City, Indiana, was married in Texas during World War II, and moved to this area after the war's end. In addition to raising seven children, she was an Avon representative for many years, worked for the NYS Department of Tax and Finance, the Averill Park schools in the lunchroom, and served at St. Henry's Rectory for many years.
Over the years, Dolores enjoyed traveling, gardening, bird watching, sewing, and cooking. She loved her bible study group, and enjoying time with her family, as well as her volunteer work at Doors of Hope and Diocesan programs, one of which led to being named Sand Lake Citizen of the Month in December of 1992.
Dolores is survived by her children Mari Lee, Margaret Williams, Catherine McGuire, Joseph Fischer, Christopher Fischer, and Jeffrey Fischer. She also had eleven beloved grandchildren, and fourteen beloved great grandchildren.
Dolores was predeceased by her husband Joseph W. Fischer, and by her daughter Susan Boettner, as well as her grandson Eric Boettner.
Calling hours will be held at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park, NY, on September15, 2023 from 12:15 pm to 2:15 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will held at 2:30 p.m., followed immediately by interment in St. Henry's Cemetery.
