COHOES - Diane Catherine Shea, 50, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2017 after an almost nine-year battle with kidney disease.
Born in Albany, NY on August 10, 1967 to Francis and Patricia Shea, Diane graduated from Shaker High School and Siena College. She most recently worked for River Ridge Living Center as Chief Financial Officer.
To know Diane was to be touched by love. Her generosity knew no bounds. She would give anyone the shirt off her back. Her kitchen table, her home, and her life were open to anyone she knew, and were constantly filled with people who benefited from the laughter, love, and compassion she would share with any who passed through her door. She was a passionate, fiery soul. She loved fiercely, gave freely, helped religiously, and lived her life fully.
Diane was a devoted mother, daughter, and sister. She was a fierce ally and loyal friend. There wasn't a person who knew Diane who wasn't affected by her kindness and generosity. Diane was a force of good in this world, and her passing will be profoundly felt by all who were lucky enough to have had her in their lives.
Diane is predeceased by her father, Francis Shea.
She is survived by her sons, Shawn Alread (married to Nicole), Bryan Alread (married to Sarah), and Craig Alread; granddaughter and the absolute light of her life, Carleigh; mother, Patricia Shea; brother, Francis Shea Jr.; sister, Erin Shea, and countless loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Diane's family would like to express their immense gratitude to Dr. Thomas Schumacher for his care, compassion, and love, as well as the incredible doctors and nurses at Albany Medical Center for their willingness to give their time, attention, and kindness to Diane and all who loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association, two causes that had a special place in Diane's heart.
