Listen to Obituary

Diane Lynn Hasenbein, 76, passed into eternal life on April 17, 2026.

Born on December 18, 1949 in Albany, New York, Diane was the beloved daughter of Raymond R. and Eleanor W. (Yaggle) Bender. She was a lifelong resident of the City of Albany and a proud graduate of Albany High School, Class of 1968. She continued her education at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.

On June 13, 1970, Diane married the love of her life, Richard Hasenbein, with whom she shared nearly 56 devoted years of marriage. Their bond began in the Choir of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, and music remained a central and joyful part of their lives.

Diane dedicated herself to both her family and her community. She worked in the Sears Credit Department and later served as an Administrative Assistant at Temple Beth Emeth and the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit. She also lovingly provided daycare for many children over the years, forming lasting bonds with the families she cared for. In addition, she spent many years as a skin care consultant with Jafra.

A woman of deep faith and service, Diane was an active member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, where she served in many roles such as Sunday School Teacher & Superintendent, Secretary of the Church Council, and Financial Secretary. She sang in the Choir for an extraordinary 68 years. Her love of music extended beyond the church—she sang in her high school chorus and the Albanettes, played violin in the orchestra, and was a long-time member of the Octavo Singers of Schenectady.

Diane also gave her time to support young people in her community, serving as Secretary of the P.S. 23 PTA in Albany and as a Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader. She and Rick spent much time together traveling and being active cheerleaders for their children and grandchildren’s activities.

She was predeceased by her parents; her stepfather, Howard G. Hasenbein; and her stepmother, Elsie (Griffiths) Bender.

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Richard Hasenbein; her children, Christopher (Danielle) Hasenbein of Wayne, NJ, and Jennifer (Carmen) Corazzini of Albany, NY; and her cherished grandchildren, Mia and Samuel Corazzini, and Madison Tucker Hasenbein. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard A. (Barbara) Bender of Prescott Valley, AZ, and David W. (Sharon) Bender of Ballston Spa, NY; her stepbrothers, Howard W. (Karen) Hasenbein and James F. Hasenbein, all of Albany, NY; along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Sincerest thanks are extended to her doctors, nurses, and other caregivers at St. Peters Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, where she concluded her final medical sojourn. The same is extended to those at New York Oncology Hematology who treated her with care and compassion, adding many years to her time with friends, family, and her beloved grandkids.

Diane will be remembered for her kindness, her devotion to family, her unwavering faith, and the joy she found in music and community. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the love she gave so freely. She’ll be missed beyond measure.
