Diane L Anderson

Diane L. Anderson, a devoted mother, grandmother, and tender caregiver to every soul—human or animal—that crossed her path, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026 at the age of 84. She was born on January 25, 1942 in Ballston Spa, NY to Howard Putnam and Vera Putnam (Ingram).

Diane lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and compassion. Above all else, her family was her greatest joy. She loved bringing people together by hosting gatherings. Diane’s heart was as gentle as it was large, extending beyond her family to include a love for animal rescue. She had a special place in her heart for cats, providing a safe, loving home to rescues over the years. Her home was never truly complete without a feline companion by her side, and her kindness to animals was a true reflection of her gentle spirit.

Her proudest role in life, however, was being a grandmother. She adored her grandchildren endlessly, treasuring every moment spent with them, watching them grow, and showering them with unconditional love. Whether it was cheering them on at their milestones, sharing time together, or spoiling them, her grandchildren were the absolute light of her life. She took immense pride in each of their achievements, big or small, and her warmth and wisdom will live on through the lessons and love she gave them.

She is survived by her loving children, Jeffrey Albrecht (Bobbie Albrecht) and Stacy Anderson Vadney (Abba Canning), Jeffery S. Anderson and Tami Anderson Bedell, and was preceded in death by her son, Leon Thomas Albrecht and husband, Donald Anderson; her cherished grandchildren, Allison Albrecht and her fiance Roddy Yagan, Jonathon Albrecht, Will Vadney, Rhys Canning, Samantha Bedell, Ryan Bedell and Tristan Anderson; and her beloved rescue cat, Teeger.

The family is deeply grateful to the compassionate team at Community Hospice and the wonderful staff at Heritage Home for Women for the exceptional care, dignity, and warmth they extended to Diane during her final days.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie on August 19 from 5-7 pm. Funeral services will be held on August 20 at 10:00 am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, with a burial service following immediately afterward at Memory Gardens in Colonie. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society honoring her lifelong devotion to helping animals in need or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of her son, Tommy Albrecht.
