Mr. Loran Dean "Bro", 66, born October 23, 1951, passed away on June 27, 2017. He is the son of the late Gloria and Henton Dean Jr.
On October 23rd, 1951 in Cordele, Georgia, the Lord blessed our lives with the birth of a Loving child and his parents named him Loran Dean. On June 27th 2017 the Lord called our Loran home to eternal life.
Most affectionately known as "Bro," Loran was the eighth of thirteen children born to the late Gloria Lee Everett Dean and the late Henton Dean, Jr.
Loran was educated in the public school system of Crisp County including A.S. Clark High School. He completed his education and training in Albany, New York where he went on to become a Master Brick Layer. He was a member of the local Union. He was also a member of the Masonic Order, where he progressed through degrees to a Shriner.
Loran loved gardening, fishing, and traveling with his family. He loved having backyard barbeques, cooking Sunday and holiday meals for family and friends.
Loran attended from infancy to adulthood the Old Oak Grove Baptist Church and The Church of God In Christ in Cordele, GA along with his parents. Later he attended the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Albany, NY.
Loran is preceded in death by his parents, Henton Dean, Jr. and Gloria Lee Everett Dean, his son John Dean, sister Kate Dean Tate, and brothers Edward and Jeoffrey Dean.
The joy, love, and happiness Loran brought to others will forever be remembered by his devoted and loving wife of 38 years, Myrtice Jackson Dean of Albany, NY; three sons, Gregory Jackson and his wife Simonett of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Loran K. Dean and his companion Natasha Moore, and Keyon Dean of Albany, NY; one daughter, Angie Dean Dennis and her husband Davon Dennis of Albany, NY.; ten grandchildren, Gregory, Jr., Xavier, Simone, Sienna, Jordan, Layden, Victoria, Cheyenne, Jayonna, and Da'Zyiah; three God Children, Ronnie Thomas, Joshua Weaver and Jalon Scott; three brothers, Henton Dean, III of Cordele, GA., Lloyd Dean and his wife Patricia of Atlanta, GA., and Larry Dean and his wife Minister Selma Dean of Melbourne, FL; six sisters, Phyllis Dean Nelson of Macon, GA., Alberta Dean Wilson, Mary Helen Dean, Pastor Vivian Diane Dean all of Cordele, GA., Jewel Dean Williams of Union City, GA., and Minister Clementine Dean Johnson and her husband Pastor Dr. R.J. Johnson of McDonough, GA.; one sister-in-law Retha Jackson of Rochester, NY; four aunts, Lizzie Dean Timmons of Albany, NY., Mary Pecola Everett Jackson of Cordele, GA., Betty Everett Rainge and her husband Henry Rainge of Warner Robins, GA., Leartis Bright of Winter Park, FL; one uncle, Curtis Everett and his wife Margie Everett of Fairburn, GA.
Special nephew Andre Nelson who was like a son who lived and helped care for him, special cousins: Carrie Louise Thomas and Sonya Timmons of Albany, NY, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and cherished friends.
Calling hours will be held at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 236 N Pearl St, Albany, NY 12207, on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 9:00am -11:00am with a service to immediately follow. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery.
