With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Deacon Eugene Brown, who departed this life on February 9, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.Born in Toccoa, Georgia, Eugene was the devoted son of the late Luther and Lela (Johnson) Brown. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Loretta (Carrington) Brown, whose memory he cherished always.
Deacon Brown was a man of unwavering faith, steadfast love, and quiet strength. His life was rooted in devotion to God and commitment to his family. As a faithful servant in his church community, he exemplified compassion, humility, and dedication, touching countless lives through his leadership and example.Eugene proudly served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.
Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career at General Electric in Schenectady, where he worked in various positions until his retirement. He was respected for his strong work ethic, integrity, and willingness to lend a helping hand.Above all, Eugene was a family man. He found his greatest joy in the presence of those he loved, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering support. His legacy of faith, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Eugene is survived by his children sons, Christopher E. Brown, Sr. (Lashawn), Anthony M. Brown, and Shawn Hawkins. Daughters Patricia Golden, and Pamela Lawrence. Grandchildren, Ryan, Christina, Christopher Jr., Chrystal, Torrin, Alana, Selena, Tiara, Anthony, Christianna, and Christina. Great-Grandchildren, AniYah, Josiah, Eryana, Meiya, Mason, JaSyis, Azari and Akira. Brother, Milton Brown, niece Rhonye’ Bowery (Marcus).
Eugene also loved playing golf any and every chance he got. It was a life long passion of his. He also enjoyed bowling and would come watch his family bowl on Wednesdays. Eugene looked forward to planting his vegetable garden every year, he would often pick his tomatoes while they were green, so Andre Porter could bring them back fried. It was one of his favorite snacks.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19th from 10am-11am at Friendship Baptist Church, 409 Union St, Schenectady, NY 12305. A funeral service honoring him will begin at 11am. Interment with military honors will be held at Evergreen Memorial Park.
