David John Potter

David John Potter, 47, passed away peacefully following a brief illness at Samaritan Hospital on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

David was a graduate of the class of 1997 from Shaker High School. Following high school, he attended Hudson Valley Community College earning his Associate's degree. He decided to utilize his degree in the Automotive industry and worked at many dealerships including, Goldstein Buick in Colonie, NY for the past 15 years.

In his spare time, David had many different hobbies and things he enjoyed doing. Some of which included: gardening, travelling, cooking, and racing anything that had a motor. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

David is survived by the love of his life and fiancé, Kathleen Early of 12 years. His children, Averie Potter and Logen (Ava) Potter as well as his bonus children, Kevin Grignon and Jenny Grignon. His parents, John and Susan Potter. Siblings, Stephen (Ruth) Potter and Erin (Dana) VanVeghten. Nieces and nephews, including: Kyle (AJ), Amanda (Tyler), Victoria (Jimmy), Derek, and Carter. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nephews. David was loved by all who knew him and we will all miss him.

There will be a Memorial Visitation on Sunday, August 3, 2025, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd. Watervliet, NY 12189. A Memorial Ceremony will be on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 10 am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd. Watervliet, NY 12189. Burial will immediately follow the services at Albany Rural Cemetery.
