Darryl L. Ostrander

Darryl Ostrander, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Darryl was the son of the late Byron and Ruth Ostrander. He was the devoted husband of over 63 years, to Nancy J. Ostrander.

He was a retired Deputy Chief with the Niskayuna Police Department. He loyally served from 1968 to 2003.

Darryl enjoyed spending time in his garage working on his classic cars and traveling in his RV with his wife and German Shepherds. He was a practical jokester and his delivery on jokes were spot on.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother Russell Ostrander.

Darryl is survived by his children, Kimberly (Eugene VanAmburgh) Mack, Darlene (Frank Presnar) Ormsby, Kevin (Sandy) Ostrander, Sabrina (David) Ostrander-Kulzer and Adam (Kelly) Ostrander. He is the proud grandfather of Denise, Kristine, Leslie, Megan, Marissa, Amanda, Alexandra, Olivia, Joseph, Samantha, Adam Paul, Raelee, Paulina, Gianna, Simeon, Amatus and Vianney. He is also the great grandfather of eleven as well as two sisters, Marilyn Dillon and Laurel Straight and many nieces, nephews, close family and friends.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be private.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Eddy, especially Banmattie and Hayden, and close family friends, Joanne and Dave for all of their care, compassion and assistance given to Darryl and his family.
