Daniel Edward Hodgkinson, 73, of Albany, NY, was healed by his Heavenly Father and welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on August 27, 2026.
Dan was born on December 10, 1952, in Troy, NY, to Albert E. Hodgkinson and Mary Joan Hodgkinson (Conway). He was the seventh sibling of nine children. Dan was loved by his siblings for his incredible wit, kindness and gentle spirit. He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in 1972. Starting at 14, Dan worked in his father’s janitorial supply company, Troy Sanitary, during the summers. He eventually became a salesman for the company which became known as American Chemical and Equipment. After spending over 30 years in sales he joined the team at Albany Housing Authority where he retired in 2021.
Dan married his first wife, Debra Lantz in 1976. They shared three children together and remained the greatest of friends. In 2009, He married his wife, Mia, and they had 17 wonderful years together.
Dan loved fishing and cars, but building things was his passion. However, his biggest success was being the most wonderful father. He loved his children with all of his heart. He raised them with love and laughter. Dan taught his children to be kind and confident and above all to laugh whenever possible.
Dan is survived by his wife, Mia, his children Daniel Hodgkinson of Salem, NY, Erin Port and husband Michael of Lancaster, SC, Peter Hodgkinson of Salem, NY and Sammy Garcia of Albany, NY. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Jakob Hodgkinson, Elena Valerio, Ava Hodgkinson, Claire Carson, Charlotte Hodgkinson, Ryan Hodgkinson and Cora Hodgkinson. Dan will be missed dearly by his sisters Joan Ann Fissette and brother in law Al, Michelle Kiesel and brother in law Fred, Rosemary Sorel, Deborah McDonald and his brother Michael Hodgkinson and sister in law Nancy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Patty, his baby sister, Lynn Erin, his brothers John and Ed and his parents. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved.
Visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm immediately followed by a memorial service a 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Road. Colonie, NY.
