Albany- Cornelius Morrison, better known as Neville, Morros, Nelius and “The General”. Passing at the age of 77 years old, Cornelius was father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son, friend, colleague, mentor, businessman and among all others, a Mechanic. He served as the Vice President of the Albany Caribbean Social club from 2011 to the date of his passing. His versatility and charisma unified all walks of life. He was a well-beloved person. A son of the soil of Jamaica and a pillar of the community. He was in fact the General of the family and the community at large. He transitioned from this world on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, at Albany Medical Center after suffering a fatal injury in a vehicular/pedestrian incident.
Cornelius Morrison was born November 8th, 1948, in Cave Valley in the parish of St. Ann Jamaica West Indies. He was the son of the late Daniel Morrison and Enid Ingram. He received his early education in Jamaica and subsequently gained employment with the Jamaica Postal Service. Later in 1985, he immigrated to United States of America and settled in Albany, NY. He gained employment at companies such as Sealy Mattress and Pinkerton Security Company. Desiring more, he decided to pursue further education at Hudson Valley Community College receiving his trade certificate in Automotive Mechanics. Thereafter, he pursued a career in Automotive Mechanics. He owned and operated Morro’s Mobile Auto Mechanic Shop for more than two decades until he retired in 2014. However, the stalwart that he was he never stopped, doing what he loved “being a mechanic”. As a businessman in Albany, NY Cornelius gave many years of his life helping people because that was more important to him than maximizing profit. During his ownership and operation of Morros Mobile Auto Mechanic Shop, he was observed on several occasions helping people in need without seeking profit, often saying they only needed to pay for the parts and “gi mi a likkle ting.”
Cornelius is the proud father of ten (10) children and is survived by his nine (9) children. (8) daughters Marlene Watson (Jesse Watson), Arlene Sankey (Keith Sankey), Semone Morrison-Brown (Seymour Brown), Sasha Kiel (David Kiel), Odette Facey, Oneika Miller (Bonus), Kendra Morrison, Raymond Morrison (Son), Ma-Tia Morrison, Tee-Ahna Gilmore, (15) grandchildren, Lance, Otavia, Kevon, Alexander, O’haleon, Ashley, Diavion, Jerome, Marques, Adryanna, Seymour jr, Ma-Lia, Riley, Cameron, and Legend (2) Great grandchildren Brielle and Hezekiah. He is also survived by two brothers Clinton, Roland and one sister Madge, nieces and nephews in great numbers. Longtime partner, Kimberly Taylor.
He was pre-deceased by his son DeAndre Morrison, his parents Daniel Morrison and Enid Ingram and his sister Edna Ingram.
Viewing 10:00am -11:00am, followed by Funeral Service at 11:00am, will be held, Thursday, January 29th at the Macedonia Baptist Church, 26 Wilson Avenue, NY 12205. Interment to follow service, Memory Gardens Memorial Park 983 Watervliet Shaker Road Albany NY 12205.
