TROY - Constantine "Gus" Quine, 79, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Malta.
Gus was born in Troy on June 12, 1937 to Peter and Stravrula Eftaxas Quine, both first generation Greek immigrants. His family moved several times during the Great Depression, finally settling in Troy. He received his Bachelor's Degree from NYS University, his Master's Degree from Fordham University, and continued with his education throughout his life earning additional degrees. He lived most of his adult life in New York City, working for over 20 years for the Child Welfare Administration as a social worker, then becoming a supervisor training new social workers. He returned to the Capital District after retiring.
Gus had many hobbies and passions including traveling, photography, classical music, and stamp collecting. His true love was getting on his bicycle and riding wherever his heart desired, documenting his travels with many photographs.
Gus is survived by his loving nieces and nephews and their families and his friends. In addition to his parents, Gus is predeceased by his siblings, Dr. John P. Quine, Georgia Lopez Jenkins, Thomas Quine, and George Quine, Sr.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at New Comer Funerals & Cremations - Latham Chapel, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY 12189. Calling hours will be prior from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
