In Loving Memory of Colin "Blades" Clarke
Colin "Blades" Clarke, age 75, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
Born in Georgetown, Guyana, Colin was the beloved son of the late Joe (Castel Montague Murray) and Yvonne Alberta Clarke. He spent his early years in Guyana before emigrating to the United States, where he made his home in Brooklyn, New York for many years. Upon retirement, he relocated to Schenectady, New York, where he enjoyed his later years.
Colin was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to those around him. He began his career as an electrician with Bookers in Guyana and later proudly served in the Guyana Police Force. After immigrating to the United States, he worked for Chase Manhattan Bank Security Services, where he remained until his retirement.
While Colin was devoted to his profession, his greatest passion was billiards. A skilled player and enthusiastic competitor, he spent countless hours enjoying the game and the camaraderie it brought with family and friends. His love for billiards earned him the nickname "Blades," a name by which many knew and affectionately remembered him.
Colin leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory. He is survived by his longtime partner, Shelia Hazlewood of Brooklyn, New York; his daughters, Veronique Clarke-Spooner and her husband, Eugene Spooner, of Brockton, Massachusetts, and Fieona Clarke-Hancock and her husband, Roger Hancock, of Quincy, Massachusetts; his son, Leon of Guyana; and his five beloved grandchildren, Natalya Clarke, Christopher Clarke, Jarrod Hancock, Isabella Hancock, and Olincia.
He is also survived by his siblings, Carlton Clarke, Oswald Clarke, Ovid Clarke, Jackie Clarke, Julian Norville, Frankie Norville Victor Norville, and Raymond Norville, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were touched by his kindness, wisdom, and friendship.
Colin will be remembered for his strength, quiet wisdom, unwavering dedication to family, and the warmth he shared with those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories that will be treasured forever.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, New York.
