Clifford Matejcak

Clifford Matejcak was called home by our Heavenly Father on August 24, 2026. Cliff was born April 25, 1957. He was the son of the late Joseph Matejcak and the late Lillian Matejcak. He married the love of his life, Victoria Matejcak. Together, they shared more than 40 years of marriage, building a life filled with love, laughter, treasured memories, and an unwavering devotion to one another that carried them through every season of life and created a legacy of love their family will forever hold close to their hearts.

Cliff grew up in Albany, New York, surrounded by family and memories that helped shape the man he would become. He often spoke with love and admiration about his parents. To Cliff, his mother was simply the best cook he had ever known, and he happily ate everything she prepared. Her cooking helped inspire his own love for preparing meals and bringing people together around the table. He also deeply respected his father, whose strong work ethic left a lasting impression on him. Some of Cliff’s treasured memories with his father were the times they spent together on the golf course, sharing conversation, laughter, and the quiet companionship between a father and son.

Creative, curious, and a remarkably quick learner, Cliff had a lifelong love of knowledge. He was an avid reader and a true student of history; as a young man, he even read every book in the family’s encyclopedia set. He also loved hockey and faithfully cheered for his favorite team, the New York Rangers. Cliff’s love of cooking became one of the special ways he expressed his love for family, especially during holidays and gatherings when his meals brought everyone together. Around those tables, food became more than a meal, it became laughter, conversation, connection, and memories that his family will carry with them forever. Whether he was sharing something he had learned, talking about history, cheering on the Rangers, preparing a favorite dish, or simply enjoying time with the people he loved, Cliff brought his own warmth and personality into every moment.

Cliff began his career at O.D. Heck Development Center, where he devoted 35 years of faithful service to caring for adults with disabilities. His work was more than a career; it was a reflection of his compassionate heart, his patience, and his

genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Through the kindness and dignity he showed each day, Cliff became a trusted source of comfort, encouragement, and support to countless individuals and families. The impact of his service will be remembered not only in the years he gave, but in the many lives he touched along the way.

Through mutual friends, Cliff was introduced to the love of his life, his late wife Victoria. Their story began with a double date and a trip to see the movie Spies Like Us, but what started as a simple evening together quickly grew into a deep and lasting connection. That connection became more than 40 years of love, laughter, partnership, and treasured memories shared side by side through every season of life. Cliff’s love for Victoria also embraced her three children, whom he welcomed into his heart and supported throughout the years with the steady love, guidance, and presence of a devoted father.

Cliff is survived by his children, Denise (James) Sherman, Danika Goodrich, Anthony (Mary) Goodrich. His grandchildren, Darius Thomas, Marquies Jones, Infiniti Jones, Avonte Goodrich, Azaria (Lejuan) Rush, Darik Thomas, and Devin Sherman. His great grandchildren, Siyani Nisby, Athalia Rush and Sinyri Thomas. His sister Lillian Robertson and along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.

Cliff was preceded in death by his beloved wife of more than 40 years, Victoria Matejcak; his parents, Joseph Matejcak and Lillian Matejcak; and his sister, Margo Young.

Family and friends are welcome to attend services on Friday, September 4, 2026 at 6pm at Bridge Church, 735 Crane St, Schenectady, NY 12303.
