Clara Ann Rouse-Owens

Albany- On March 11, 2026, Clara Ann Rouse-Owens peacefully went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by a host of loving family members in the comfort of her home, honoring her final wishes.

Clara was born on March 14, 1953, in Albany, New York. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of many through her kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. She dedicated much of her time to volunteering and supporting residents in the South End of Albany, leaving a lasting impact on her community.

Above all else, Clara devoted her life to her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her eight children and a faithful wife who loved her husband unconditionally for more than 30 years. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

For much of her life, Clara worked in the healthcare field, where she cared for others with compassion, patience, and dedication. Her nurturing spirit and gentle heart made a difference in the lives of many patients and families.

Clara found great joy in cooking, baking, crafting, and sewing. A talented self-taught seamstress, she took pride in creating beautiful pieces with her own hands. She will always be remembered for her unwavering love, warm spirit, radiant smile, and wonderful sense of humor that brought comfort and joy to everyone around her.

She leaves behind her eight children: Curtis Thomas, Elanda Thomas, Andre Thomas, Deeneesha Philpot, Darlena Philpot, Jeffrey Philpot, Jannie Philpot and Shaneena Philpot. In-law’s, Tysheim King Sr Joann Thomas Telena Etheredge Barbara Rouse .

She is also survived by her beloved siblings, Eugene Rouse and Marion Rouse -Cookie.

Clara leaves to cherish her memory of many grandchildren: Jamell Thomas, Jozlin Thomas, Corey Thomas Andre Thomas Jr, Keishana Thomas, Leequan Thomas, Marissa Thomas, Kira Thomas, Silas Thomas, Shadrea Philpot, Anquay Gaymon, Kyanta Sealey, Skyy Philpot, Khalil’l Mandingo Etheredge, Allahja Loewy, Tysheim King Jr., Nazir King, Tyasia King, Latayvia King, Noah Philpot, Maliek Philpot, Zyier Philpot, Ka’mya Philpot, Kahnii Philpot, Takhia Taylor, Anoriyona Taylor, Charles Lloyd Jr., Drahcir Ely, Samora Bunch, and Royal Bunch, as well as 26 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her beloved best friend of more than 50 years, Theresa Pompey.

Clara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Owens Jr.; her parents, Eugene Rouse and Lossie Rouse; and her grandsons, Joshua Cannon and Daquan Thomas.

Her love, strength, and legacy will live on through her children, family, and all who were blessed to know and love her. Though she is no longer with us in body, her memory will remain forever in our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026. A viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
