COLONIE- Clara H. Donato, 88, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in South Carolina.
Clara was born on April 19, 1927 to the late Anthony and Clara Witkowski in Albany, NY. Clara graduated at Vincentian Institute in 1945. She then went on to attend Mildred Elley School where she prepared for her career at NYS Executive Chamber, in Albany, NY. She retired from the state in 1982.
Clara is predeceased by her loving husband of over 40 years, Santo Donato, and her siblings; Edith Bahelka, Stanley Witkowski, and Frankie Witkowski.
She is survived by her children; Sue (Peter) Buege, Michael (Kathy) Malinoski, Maryanne (David) Gauvain, and TJ (Kim) Malinoski, her grandchildren; Erich, Christopher, Joanne, Andrea, Jennifer, Lindsey, Courtney, and Kevin, her great-grandchildren; Evan, Abigail, Hunter, William, and Patrick, and a host of family, friends, and health and care providers.
Clara was a member of the Fuller Road Ladies Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her love of opera music. She was featured on many local television programs, and church choirs. Clara was very artistic and took an interest in many different things, including; ceramics, quilting, needlepoint, cooking, baking, and traveling.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY, on Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 4:00pm-6:00pm, with a mass of Christian Burial at Christ our Light Church, 1 Maria Dr, Albany, NY 12211, on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:00am.
