Christopher J Schreiner, 59, of Colonie went home to be with the Lord after a short illness and a long battle on June 3rd, 2026. Chris was full of life and always aimed to make people laugh whether with jokes or funny faces. His humor was uniquely his own—sometimes a little twisted, but always delivered with love and a mischievous grin.
Born in Albany NY to John and Joan Schreiner, Chris was raised in Colonie, and graduated from Colonie Central High School in 1984. In his early twenties, Chris dedicated himself to supporting and advocating for individuals struggling with addiction, offering compassion, encouragement, and understanding to those working toward recovery. He was the proud father to his beautiful daughters, Karley and Casey from his marriage to Kelley Rafferty. Chris was a devoted mail carrier for more than 20 years and always had the tan to prove it. He took pride in his work and was known for his friendly personality and strong work ethic. He spent his last few years living with the love of his life Fay Phibbs; in South Carolina.
Chris leaves behind his devoted fiancée of 10 years, Fay; his parents, John and Joan Schreiner; his daughters, Karley (Jake) Lindgren and Casey (Josh) DiPiazza; and his cherished grandchildren, Mason, Logan, and Lennon. He is also survived by his siblings, Lisa (Terry) Ryan and Joe (Connie) Schreiner, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Chris will be remembered for his quick wit, generous heart, and his ability to bring laughter to those around him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Capital District Recovery Center in memory of Chris. Donations may be made online through the organization's donation page or mailed to Capital District Recovery Center, 45 Colvin Avenue, 2nd Floor, Albany, NY 12206.
