Christopher S. Leininger

New Lebanon — Christopher S. Leininger, 63, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. He was born in Albany, NY, to the late Charles and Donna Leininger.

Chris was considered a hero by many. Despite being blind for many years, he faced life with strength, determination, and courage. He worked for many years and proudly owned his own newsstand through the Association for the Blind, where he met many wonderful friends and became a familiar and valued member of the community. He retired in 2019.

Chris especially cherished the time he spent with his family and his son, Joseph. The two shared a special bond and enjoyed working on cars together and spending time fishing. These memories will remain treasured by those who knew and loved him.

Chris was predeceased by his son, Jeremy Leininger, and his sister, Terry Fowler.

He is survived by his beloved son, Joseph Leininger; his siblings, Elizabeth (James) Fowler, Vera Leininger (Edward Blackman), Kurt (Amy) Leininger, and Lynn (Joseph) Fowler; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Chris will be remembered for his strength, perseverance, love of family, and the many friendships he made throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
