Charlotte Virginia MacColl, 75, went to dance with the angels in the glory of Heaven’s light on August 10, 2025, after suffering a brief illness.
Born on September 21, 1949, in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Doris (Brazee) Thibadeau.
Charlotte graduated from Albany High School and was employed as a clerk for New York State.
Charlotte’s years were filled with the love of dance and music, which were instilled from childhood. Her father, Earl, was a talented guitar player and Charlotte embraced being a musician’s daughter. Charlotte loved country and rock and roll music. Some of Charlotte’s highlights in life were winning tickets on a radio show to attend the first American show for the Beatles at Shea Stadium and seeing Garth Brooks in concert. Charlotte loved to dance and be happy. She spent many years celebrating life by square dancing, line dancing and watching her daughter Jennifer’s annual dance recitals (first as a child dancer and later as a dance teacher).
Charlotte loved her annual vacations to Maine, particularly Cadillac Mountain and Old Orchard Beach, where her beloved grandmother “Weems” once lived. Charlotte also loved her frequent road trips with her husband to Massachusetts, where they spent many hours together researching her family genealogy.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte is predeceased by her brother, Earl Thibadeau, and sister in law, Judy Thibadeau.
She is survived by her husband, Robert MacColl; her daughter, Jennifer Pekins (John); her step-children, Robert MacColl (Michaela), Daniel MacColl (Kimberly), and Laurie Halsey (Dave); grandchildren, Rowan and Margeaux MacColl, Tyler and Nicholas MacColl and Laney and Jack Halsey.
A private family service will be held to honor Charlotte’s life.
