Charles Swanson

Charles Swanson (Swanny) 81, passed away on September 5, 2025 in Albany NY. He was the loving husband of Eula V. Swanson

Charles was raised in Tuskegee, Alabama by his grandparents Fannie Ellison “Bae” and Thomas Ellison. He was born October 9, 1943 in Tuskegee Alabama to the late Pierce Fort and Mary Swanson-Hall.

In his early years Charles attended Washington Public school in Tuskegee, Alabama. Then he went on to graduate from Tuskegee Institute High School. Charles later moved to Albany NY. In Albany he was employed at Veterans Medical Center, where he was continually awarded for his outstanding work- ethics, professionalism, and genuine care for his patients. 

Charles was a minister and a faithful servant of Jehovah for the last 32 years. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s witnesses in Albany, NY. He loved to read his bible, play the guitar and visit with family and friends.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife of almost 37 years. His five adopted children, Jefferey Allen of VA, Brenda Hill NY, Robert G. Coffin IV, (Amy) of NY, Kimberly King (Jami) NY and Charles Coffin,(Shanita) FL, and his 19 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by special cousins, Othella Young, Mary Small and niece Kiesha Small, and a host of relatives, including his congregation family.

Charles is preceded in death by his siblings, James Edward Hall, Mary Hall, Lorenzo Hall, Nathaniel Hall, and James Fort and a  special cousin, Leonard Woods.

Services will be held on Saturday September 27th at 3pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 400 Albany Shaker Rd, Albany NY 12211.
