Charles L. Sawyer

Selkirk-Charles L. Sawyer, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018, just a few days shy of his 92nd birthday.
Born on February 18, 1926 in Providence, he was the son of the late Leon J. and Margaret Sawyer. In 1944, at the age of 18, Charlie joined the United States Navy, proudly serving his county until 1946.
Charlie was a jack of all trades, working at General Electric in Schenectady, moving to Florida to work at Kraft Foods, and upon returning to New York he became the Plant Manager at Sears Oil in Glenmont, which he retired from at the age of 70. He was a man that would do anything that he could, whether working on his truck, building onto his house or finding little projects to do. Charlie also was an avid animal lover. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend; he will be greatly missed.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Beverly Poland Sawyer; son, John Sawyer, step-sons, Scott Shord (Christina), James Shord (Cristina); step-daughter, Ruth Humel (Richard); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Jane Sawyer and one sister.
It was Charlie's wishes that there be no formal services.
