Charles "Chucky" Blanchard, 72, Albany, NY, transitioned, Thursday, February 26, 2026 at home. Born May 14, 1953, in Albany, NY he was the son of Shirley Ruth Blanchard and the late John Henry Blanchard.
Chucky attended Albany High School. He worked as a groundskeeper at SUNY Albany for many years and retired in 2010. He was known as a Legend and the Mayor of Swan Street where he frequently socialized. He loved dogs and fishing.
He is survived by his daughters Tia of West Deptford, NJ and Charla and her husband Thomas of Decatur, GA; his mother, Shirley Ruth Blanchard of Schenectady, NY; 4 grandchildren, Rametrius and Dylan of Phoenix, AZ, Mia of West Deptford, NJ and Paige of Decatur, GA. He is survived by 11 siblings: Earline Leigh, Josephine Blanchard, Johnny Blanchard, Sheila Blanchard, Judy Smith (Victor), Wayne Blanchard, Tracy Blanchard, Fields Blanchard, Lanell Blanchard and Doc Blanchard of Albany, NY and Randy Blanchard (Crystal) of Fort Mill, SC and niece Sherry Blanchard holding a special place in his life as well as a host of many other nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, John Henry Blanchard, sisters, Barbara Ann Blanchard and Shirley Harris and, brother, Robert Lee Blanchard.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, March 9th from 2pm-3pm at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral ceremony will begin at 3pm.
