Catherine Mary (Petrie) Kenna, 94, of Guilderland, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 5, 2018. The love of her family and friends comforted her to the end.
Born on December 6, 1923 in East Herkimer, NY, Catherine was the daughter of the late Clyde and Laura (Eysaman) Petrie.
Catherine graduated Salutatorian of the Herkimer High School Class of 1940 and attended Syracuse University before marrying Charles B. Kenna in 1943.
Known to all as Kitt, she devoted her life to her husband, 8 children, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren (with one on the way) and one great- great grandchild. In her spare time, Kitt enjoyed acting in Community Theatre, waitressing at various upstate NY restaurants, playing cards with "The Girls" and Yankee Baseball. She was an award winning seamstress and an active member of the Community Reformed Church of Colonie and the Lynwood Reformed Church.
Loving mother of eight children: Michael (JoAnn) Kenna of Puyallup, WA, Larry (Susan) Kenna of Beverly, MA, Bruce (Toni) Kenna of Manchester, NH, Deborah (B.J.) Todd of Guilderland, NY, Cristine (Juan) LaPaix of Albany, NY, Donald (Mary) Kenna of Clifton Park, NY, Thomas Kenna of Guilderland, NY, and Jennifer Kenna of Delmar, NY.
Her children and all their offspring will miss her dearly as they celebrate her life and continue her legacy.
Relatives and friends may call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 11th at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie, where a service will be held at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. The graveside burial will be held on 10 a.m. Thursday, July 12th at Memory Gardens, Colonie.
