OBITUARY

Carolyn Simon Lacy, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.

She was born on June 22, 1943, to her parents January Simon and Florence Phillips. One of 4 children, Carolyn grew up on Swan Street in Albany and spent most of her life in the Capital District area, with a short stay in Atlanta, Georgia from 2000 - 2003. Before retiring from Simmons factory as a machinist, Carolyn worked as a food service worker for Troy Public Schools.

If you asked anyone who knew her for one word to describe her, above all else it would be songbird.

Carolyn's voice was beautiful. Those who've heard her sing will truly miss her melodious voice.

Carolyn is predeceased by her husband, Reginald E., mother, Florence Simon, and siblings Jerry Simon and Betty Sturgess.

She is survived by her children Yvette, Tina, Tonya (Bryan) and Reginald (LaKeya), her grandchildren, Danielle (Richard), Tayler, Raven, and Bryan Ellis, her nephew Steven who she cherished as a son, her sister Gloria, treasured nieces and nephews, and other dear family members and friends.

A home going celebration will be held on Tuesday, December 2 at 11am, with a calling hour starting at 10am at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet, NY 12189. Burial will follow at Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
